Vampires in Paris is the special home of a collection of unique oil portraiture created by portrait artist Victoria Lawton.
Victoria’s professional career for over 20 years has been in the world of fashion and costume. She studied at Central Saint Martins and has taken inspiration from the fashion elite and the eccentric bourgeoisie into her portraits. Studying the uniqueness of human form, nature and symbolism, classical oil painting techniques are re-imagined into rich contrasts of beauty and darkness.

If you had one image to portray you for eternity how would you speak?
The Memento Mori series is a collection of intimate commissions based on symbolism.
Each client is asked questions based on their character, their connections to nature and their symbolic representations. From this, Victoria will get a sense of composition from the lists created resulting in a fun photoshoot which the client who can select all favoured imagery to be used within the painting. The result of the painting stays in the imagination of the artist until unveiled when completed.

A STILL LIFE SERIES - TRAPPED IN BEAUTY
A Still Life- trapped in beauty, is a series of characters that capture the essence of Vampires in Paris.
Society are dictated to by the fashion and beauty industries of how to be considered modern, admired and loved. These layered expectations are a trapping of sorts as they coincide with expectations held by traditions and ancestry of what it is to be a modern identity.
These characters each hold their own stories for society as powerful immortal totems of past present and future.
